Testing to Assess for Learning Disabilities and Other Learning Problems
I provide psychoeducational evaluations that can identify learning disabilities in children. All psychoeducational evaluations include diagnoses and recommend interventions for you and your child’s teacher(s) that are based on the latest scientific research. Once the evaluation is completed, I will hold an extensive feedback meeting with you to make sure that you understand the results so that you can then pursue the appropriate services.
Testing for ADHD
One of the most common referral questions that parents have is whether or not their child has Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Symptoms of ADHD can affect a child’s functioning in multiple areas, including academic performance, peer relationships, and behavior at home. Whether your child seems overactive or daydreams often, we will conduct a thorough assessment of your child’s attention problems.
I provide ADHD evaluations that can help determine whether an individual meets diagnostic criteria for ADHD. My evaluations are focused on providing information about strengths and weaknesses and on developing strategies to help adapt to them. Based on my evaluation, I may provide recommendations for treatment that include behavioral strategies, referrals for a medication consultation with a psychiatrist, and/or accommodations in school or standardized tests (e.g., SAT, GRE). These accommodations may include extended time, testing in separate location, and testing breaks.
I provide comprehensive autism evaluations, which include “gold standard” measures (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (Second Edition)), clinical interviews, and behavioral rating forms. Based on results, I can provide specific recommendations to improve your child’s functioning in the home and school environments.
